Wyoming senator-elect Cynthia Lummis, who will assume office in Jan. 2021, offered a lot of praise for Bitcoin in an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America segment on Nov. 14.
- When asked about whether she wished to bring Bitcoin in national discussion, Lummis answered yes, and said that Bitcoin “fit the bill” as a store of value
- She also said that the US dollar inflates, while Bitcoin does not with its fixed 21 million supply -- and that this would be “an important player for a long time to come”
- Lummis also mentioned that she owned some Bitcoin herself, after being advised to do so by her son-in-law in 2013; she becomes the first US senator to own Bitcoin
- One of the wealthiest members of congress, Lummis was previously the Wyoming State Treasurer and Member of the House of Representatives
