NFTs, ETH, Starlinks and Bitcoin, The World Comes to the Aid of Ukraine

Millions have been donated in crypto to the Ukrainian government in its hour of need while governments send thousands of anti-tank and anti-air missiles with people across the globe protesting against the war.

The official ethereum donation address of the Ukrainian government shows more than $5 million worth of 1,961 eth has been received.

That includes tokens, with $90,000 of StarLink the token sent. Starlink the internet is also coming live as Elon Musk responded to a request to “provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand.”

“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route,” Musk said. And just like that, the livestream will never stop.

The Ukrainian government has also received 73 NFTs, with these being more cultural and symbolic than having any significant value, at least the donated ones.

The billionaire founder of Tron, Justin Sun, seemingly wanted to donate some presumably significant amount however, with more than $1 million USDt operating on the Tron blockchain sent to Ukraine.

The also fairly rich ethereum co-founder and now founder of Polkadot, Gavin Wood, promised to donate $5 million.

“If you post a DOT address I’ll personally contribute $5 million,” Wood said.

Support has also been shown in other ways. Most strikingly, an estimated 100,000 people protested in Berlin on Sunday, as pictured in the featured image, in a clear indication that the German public is fully behind the freely elected and democratic government of Ukraine.

While those protests went on, the Danish government announced they were to send 2,700 anti-tank missiles and 300 stinger missiles to Ukraine.

Sweden is to send 5000 AT4 anti-tank launchers. Germany will send 1,000 while also increasing its defense budget to €100 billion, which is almost as much as the defence budget of UK and France combined and twice that of Russia. Netherlands, and others now becoming too many to mention, are also sending military aid with even rumors jets may be donated.

Russia’s president Vladimir Putin meanwhile stands isolated. A meeting today with his top economic officials shows just how much:

Putin meeting with top economic officials, Feb 28 2022

The 5,000 dead Russian soldiers so far in less than 5 days, according to Ukraine, are apparently not the top concern for Putin at least for the day as he focuses on the economy.

That’s while sanctions start to bite with Russian airlines no longer able to travel to Europe or to the United States as the country is isolated.

Even neutral Switzerland has now stated they will apply EU sanctions towards Russia, while Turkey no longer allows Russian ships through the Bosphorus unless they’re returning to their permanent Black Sea base.

All is being done thus, short of troops on the ground, to defend Ukraine and to stop or defeat Putin, with Ukraine’s president Vlodymyr Zelensky announcing the formation of a Foreign Legion.

That’s volunteers across the globe who want to join their fight for freedom and democracy for the ordinary pay that soldiers receive.

Ukraine therefore is far from on its own, with EU apparently asking for its immediate application to join which would be a game changer as the European Union has a defense clause.

There isn’t much chatter or speculation on how that would work, but Putin is clearly operating under the heavy breathing of EU especially, as well as US, so any little mistake like indiscriminate massacring of civilians or continued missiling of high rise apartments may well be met with enough is enough.

On nukes, this isn’t Japan in the 1940s where anyone would surrender if one goes off. Instead, first of all we’d expect any nuke to be made dud hopefully, and there might not even be a retaliation with nukes as all jets across the globe might take to the air instead in a most mighty air armada to make Moscow fall maybe in minutes as the 100 or more US stealth bombers finish matters very very quickly.

Russia would then be de-nuclearized as well as maybe broken up with foreign troops staying on perhaps for decades to ensure that such a thing never happens again.

Or the submarines just retaliate or both, but a nuke going off wouldn’t change anything except make matters way, way, way worse for Russia.

So Putin should accept that offer of the Finlandization option where Ukraine joins the EU because there probably is still time to at least not escalate sanctions further to the point where a total economic collapse for Russia is not just likely as it is looking, but close to certain.
