Muji is one of the brands which I like because it evokes laid-back, yet chic vibes at the same time, which is a delicate balancing act to handle. So when National Reading Movement organised a competition that allowed readers to submit a haiku based on a storybook they had read in their childhood, I gamely accepted the challenge.
So here’s my entry. I composed it while doing the dreaded chore of washing dishes .

As you can probably infer from my winning photo, I won! A win is a win even though there were only 3 entries. So I went down to the Muji outlet at Plaza Singapura today to collect my prize. A container of pens and 5 exercise books? Not bad for something I did while washing dishes!
Actually, I don’t really need such nice pens even though I might keep 3-4 exercise books for security’s sake. I will never know when I would be called upon to solve global problems. Ha! Anyway, I had the brilliant idea of giving the pens to my student who suffers from school refusal. Of course, I don’t think that these pens, awesome as they are, will provoke him to scramble to school but it was a good way to reach out to him. So these pens served their purpose!
