My Trilingual Son And Bitcoin

Do repost and rate:

I love Bitcoin.

I am trying to accumulate as much Bitcoin as I can through platforms like Hodlnaut and Gemini. Once I build up a substantial base, I will transfer some assets to DeFi platforms and try out yield farming.

In fact, my short-term goal is to amass at least 1 Bitcoin.

I realize that my sharing has revealed my generation. Apparently, some millennials dismiss Bitcoin as the 'Boomer' coin as they prefer altcoins with swanky and funky reputations such as Dogecoin.

Indeed, their sly dig is not misplaced. I belong to Gen X, a generation that adapted to the rise of social media platforms and other digital tools. As opposed to the millennials who are at ease with technology and are considered digital natives.

But well, my two-year-old son made me realize something recently. You see, he's a third culture kid, for I am Singaporean Chinese and my wife is Japanese. So, my wife speaks to him solely in Japanese; I do likewise in Chinese.

As a result of such consistency, my boy has slowly but surely acquired the vocabulary for the things he likes, be it Japanese or Chinese. What's amusing for me to watch is how he would plead for more slices of watermelon to my wife in Japanese. Upon seeing my wife shake her head, he would turn to me without skipping a beat and ask for watermelon in Chinese.

He knows how to code-switch!

Every language serves a purpose for him. It is but a tool for him to express what he wants.

Hence, my message to the millennials out there: why have such strong loyalties towards Dogecoin? Why not see Bitcoin as a way to fulfill another purpose that will enliven your life and portfolio at the same time? Regardless of your allegiance towards altcoins, Bitcoin is still seen as the definitive means to facilitate transactions between customers and businesses.

This is especially so when El Salvador has accepted Bitcoin as legal tender this September. Hence, McDonald's, Starbucks and Pizza Hut announced that they would accept Bitcoin as payment in El Salvador. Given that these are world-renowned global companies, they will surely offer this payment option to their eager consumers from all over the world.

Have you embraced this 'Boomer' coin yet? :)
