“Why do you sit here all alone?“ asked the llama.
“I don’t know,” I replied. “This is quite a big city. I am new, I don’t know many people around.”
“Well. I have a secret solution for your problem,” insisted the llama. It handed me a smartphone.
“Looky-looky, that’s where your neighbors are. Like minded guys, you know, the sunny side of life.”
I nodded, not because I understood, but because all sounded highly plausible.
“Believe me. We are all llamas here.”
My first week in Upland is nearly over. I bought, I sold, I compared prices, neighborhoods and collections. All in all that was quite an amazing week!
For now I want to focus on an aspect that I find really appealing about the game. With regard to the growing community Upland seems to develop some serious role play gaming. Of course the game is still in an early stage, but if you scale the current action, you only can imagine how big and colorful these role play elements might become in the future.
But what is my point here?
Every game profits from the imagination and fantasy of its players. So in my first days in Upland I stumbled upon some kind of "parties" that take place at different addresses.
"Well, let's see what this is all about", I thought and decided to visit a party.
In order to do so you move your explorer to the chosen property. The advertisement for these parties are often extensively designed. Some players put a huge amount of effort in it.
When arriving at the specific address I was a little confused.
"Nobody here? Nothing to see? Did I misunderstand something?"
It took me a while to figure out, what parties are about. They lift the community's spirit. One member posted a well fitting GIF.
It said: "We come together"
And in my opinion this is the core of every role play gaming. It's about support, appreciation and community. This might feel a little disappointing in the first place. But if you understand how this world of Upland is shaped, if you know where huge parts of the action take place, and in what way the "meta game" is developed, you get a feeling for this.
Thus I can highly recommend to join the discord server and telegram group of Upland. Besides lots of tips for the gameplay you get a colorful squad of people across all continents and age groups.
Understanding all of this here is one short report of my very own Sunset Upland Housewarming Party! Recently I got my hands onto some properties near the seaside and wanted to seize the moment for celebrating a wonderful evening.
I designed a poster and spread some commercials. And wow: I got to welcome a few guests! Sure, they paid an entrance fee for my support. But even more I was happy that they came for a visit!
To stay within the role play: We partied and drank all night, with good music and an overwhelming sunset. From this evening on I truly arrived in San Francisco and in Upland.
One of the most fascinating points: This game does not only boost your understanding for the blockchain. It also boosts your creativity.
I am really looking forward for more to come!
