Let's talk about Upland!! #MyUplandCity

I don't think I've written on here yet, so I'll do a brief introduction before getting down to it. I'm Katin (that's a pen name that I grabbed from a novel by Samuel R. Delany). I write on Medium sometimes (please follow me here on PUBLISH0X and on Medium!), I'm a composer, a non-practicing attorney licensed in two US states (IL and TX), a cat lover, a tarot reader, and I work in the healthcare technology industry in a role that requires no tech savvy. I started learning about crypto just this year, and I really enjoy the topic.

Back in early February of this year, I signed up for Upland, not knowing what it is. I got a bunch of coins (UPX - I guess it's a type of crypto?) and bought a random property in who-knows-where, San Francisco, CA. I'm not familiar with the Bay Area. But my Upland visa or something expired because I'm a horrible person who was going through such a disaster of organization at the time (and still, but I'm getting a little better hopefully). I didn't log in before it expired and I lost the property I had.

Don't be me.

I don't even want to be me! :) It's no fun sometimes. Anyway, I was able to purchase another property somewhere in the Bay Area, which I promptly listed for 99,999,999 UPX or something ridiculous to keep the real estate predators away. And because I don't know what the heck I'm doing.

Why is the most popular city in the country, Austin, Texas, not available on Upland????????? #MyUplandCity

As a native to the Chicago suburbs, I appreciate that Upland recently added Chicago. Does Cleveland qualify as a city? I ask because I actually don't know; it's a honest question. Sadly, I don't have enough UPX to buy any other properties right now. It's a shame. But the place I'd want to buy in Chicago isn't even available anyway. Nobody ever cares about the suburbs, after all. That's how it's always been for me, so I can't say that I'm surprised.

But I'd like to buy another house, please! I say another because I actually bought a house 11 months ago in Austin! It's my first home. I hadn't even discovered crypto before buying it, and I really don't know how that happened because I've been poor all my life. Even after becoming a lawyer, I'm still destitute compared to most everyone else I know. (I'm probably not that good at hiding that fact, but I like to think that I am.)

Enough about me. Let's talk about Austin, Texas and why Upland NEEDS to add it to its platform.

Austin is, in its heart, a city of positivity. We may have many divisive problems in our county right now politically and socially speaking, but Austin is a place where people can live in harmony despite differences. It's a very friendly city. People here are generally supportive of others. As with anywhere, there may be exceptions at times, but I've witnessed far more goodness here that I've ever seen in any other place I've lived around the country.

That should be reason enough. But we could also talk about its architecture.

Here we have a picture of the famous Austin Motel, which has a sign in the shape of a...  yeah.. let me find another example.

Austin is a beautiful city from just about any angle. I'd recommend the view of the city from the top floor of one of its tallest buildings. It's not always accessible, so I'd also recommend taking a short drive on 360 to check out the view of the city from a distance. That link should take you to a park. I'm pretty sure the entrance is somewhere around there. You'll be able to see the city, and you'll know if that's the spot. It's impressive to say the least.

While you're out there, check out some of the trails or other fun outdoor places, like the pool over by the Zilker Park area.

And Austin is especially known for its nightlife and music scene. It's probably something you'd like if you haven't checked it out before.

So, Upland: It's time to add Austin! I'm sure lots of people would love to see and buy their favorite places there. There's only one house I'd like and only because it's close to my favorite library branch. There's a giant oak tree behind it and a trail that leads to a beautiful park - one of my favorites. I was hoping to be able to buy it someday and live there, but I don't see it selling anytime soon. Plus I don't think I could afford it.

If you can find that house before I do on Upland - if we get the nice Austin upgrade - then hold onto it! It might be worth something someday. Who knows? Actually, really, who knows? How does Upland even work? It seems like it's just a cute game, but I wonder if it's possible to make any money on it.

[I can't complete the stuff for the #MyUplandCity contest because I can't figure out how to play Upland. I can't seem to move my explorer to my property! Hahaha...oh well - have the article about Austin and Upland anyway.]
