Job Hunting in a Pandemic

It’s been a while since I have posted an update in this blog about my life. I am proud to say the Congressional Race I worked for went beautifully. The nominee I worked for Republican Troy Nehls is now Congressman-elect Troy Nelhs. He will be a beautiful addition to the US House of Reps having known him for 20 years he is someone who I feel can truly bridge gaps with people on the other side of the political spectrum.

He is a man who will be willing to compromise during a time when both sides are digging their heels in and refusing to budge. I could not be prouder of being a part of this. Continuing on with myself, after election night I took a day off and then helped out the campaign still as a volunteer. My boss Alex and I went around for 2 days removing/taking down the 4ft by 8ft signs all over the district. Amazingly this was a crazy hard task which was really unexpected. That as of now has been the end of my activities in politics so far.

Luckily enough for me the children’s day school I had worked at before the campaign, (I proctored the teachers elementary and middle school kids while they taught preschool), needed my help so this last week I worked at the front desk. Not hard work but making a dollar is making a dollar so who am I to turn that down! Recently a few teachers kids have gotten COVID at the day school so I might be needed again next week so that the lady who normally works the front desk can go back and help out the pre school teachers!

With most of the US election having wrapped up I have been able to start dedicating efforts for what next to do in my life. I have spent a ton of time pouring over a few specific things including neuroscience graduate programs, job leads and continuing to improve my knowledge of programs like R and Python.

The job market leads are by far the most disappointing thing I’ve dealt with. The jobs that are out there right now are dead end positions where my skills are not required and I cannot make a career out of it. It’s a really odd time and with the next four months suppose to be COVID hell it’s harder for companies to justify hiring more skilled labor but that’s just my running theory.

With the job market flat and the job I had lined up frozen for who knows how long I’ve begun my sleuthing through neuroscience papers. Initially, I had planned to go to grad school after undergrad but was tempted away by the idea of working for a sports organization. Since that is gone and there really is just nothing that jumps out at me this could be the best time to apply to grad school and begin that journey. Continuing to learn R and Python are huge pluses for not only going back to school but also application in the workplace.

Due to the whole job situation being what it is I did have to stop allotting or purchasing more crypto. I now just trade with what I already have and move my earnings each month from here to my wallets to further facilitate additional/outside growth. It’s definitely a weird time to be out of school and “adulting” when the work is starting to shut down again. I hope y’all enjoyed this life update! It’s so far been an adventure for sure!
