India’s recent stand on AI appears to have orchestrated a sense of frenzy within the global AI landscape. The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, recently released a statement appealing to the citizens of India. In his appeal, the prime minister cordially invited the nation’s citizens to the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023.

According to the statement released, the summit is all set to commence on December 12, 2023. Furthermore, in his announcement, the P.M. also stressed on how India recently emerged as one of the fastest-growing artificial intelligence (AI) pioneers.

Meanwhile, the statement also shed light on how India is “looking to take a giant leap” in the AI space. In his announcement, the P.M. emphasizes how the rapid growth of the artificial intelligence realm demands the fostering and developing of AI-related activities within the country. Moreover, he draws attention to how the nation, with its youthful population and dynamic startup ecosystem, is poised to contribute to the global evolution of AI significantly.

Besides, the country emphasizes scalable, secure, affordable, and sustainable solutions, exemplified by initiatives like the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

Intriguingly, over the last decade, India swiftly progressed in AI-related technologies, accomplishing in a few years what other countries took decades to achieve. However, presently, within the realm of AI, India is actively working to empower its citizens across diverse sectors, including language services, personalized education, accessible healthcare, and informed agriculture. This endeavor aims to promote equitable and inclusive growth on a global level.

Since its commencement in June 2020, India has played a significant role in GPAI initiatives, earning a spot on its council in November 2022. As the Lead Chair, India is committed to utilizing AI for the welfare of people globally, emphasizing a regulatory framework for safe and trusted AI usage.

The upcoming AI Summit, featuring sessions and an AI Expo with 150 Startups, underscores the nation’s dedication to inclusive and enduring AI implementations.

Furthermore, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, recently exhibited his trust in India’s potential to emerge as the next AI hub. This appears to align with India’s recent advancements in the AI realm, inclusive of the GPAI Summit 2023.
