How do you "DeGoogle" yourself?
When I was growing up, it was considered a great privilege to stop somewhere and have a soda. I know it sounds a little silly considering we are in the days of the super sized & massive portions.
It would be extravagant to go out and grab a soda with some ice cream in it too. Over the top! If you're chuckling like me as I write this, you know how the saying let's grab a coke or when asking for a soda you just ask for a coke.
Very much the same way, today google has taken over so many different areas of our lives. The word is used as a noun, verb, adjective and even an adverb.
I found the answer on google.
Go ahead and google the answer.
That seems like a very googlish answer.
That whole answer is very googley in nature.
So, this takes me to what we are looking at today. Several years ago, Presearch was developed and now is starting to take off and make progress.
What Is It and Why You Should Care
As you learn more about Presearch, you will see it is the answer to many of thorns in your side, when it comes to searching. From the Presearch White Paper which is aptly named a Vision Paper;

Also, PRESEARCH has come a long way since it first started. Today there are nearly seamless connections with BRAVE Browser as well as the lengthy index of search sources that can be accessed.
For example if you use Dsearch as the native search function within Presearch, you can see from a generic "web search" entry the left column of available sources from the index.
If you want to see a more broadly dispersed listed click where the arrow is pointing and you will see a categorical representation different topics and most align sources within the index. This is a very powerful tool.
While Google is one of the options, you keep your search power and can direct the query to a variety of sources as seen below. Just to note the custom providers and categories is about twice as long as what is shown.

As I was talking with a friend about the Presearch the other day, he asked me "WHY"? I said Why what? To that was the question of, why spend the time and even pay attention.
Even after all the time we knew each other and have talked about things I thought it would be obvious, but I indulged anyway.
Principle...
It was really that simple. Yes, there is the token and key word staking that is really lucrative and interesting and the privacy aspect that is involved. Yet overall it is just principle.
If you had access to how much revenue is generated by your search activities it is one thing. Revenue plus your habits, behavior and profiles that are created about you is something else. Maybe that doesn't bother you, maybe you just say it is what it is...
Personally I would rather have a choice. So on principle, the couple minutes it takes to set up Presearch with the browser of your choice is worth it. Even if you never take a look at your PRE balance or any of the other features, it is worth a couple minutes of your time.
After that it's all bonus...
