Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Will Protect Bitcoin Announces Presidential Run - Haha! Why the favouritism Ron?

Ladies and Gentlemen... just wow! I thought 2020 was wild when my friend decided he wanted to be identified as a 'Doormat', but it looks like 2023 is shaping up to be even crazier! I don't know if you've heard the news, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially thrown his hat into the US Presidential race, and get this - he's promising to protect crypto... So is he into a bit of schmoozing with Bitcoin?

Yes, you heard that right. This guy reckons he is all about the crypto life... Sceptical? I don't know about you, but I'm always a little skeptical when politicians start bandwagoning onto trends like this. I mean, is he actually going to follow through on his promises or is this just a ploy to get some attention? But hey, as I say on may topics I'm no political analyst - let's hear what he and sources have to say.

Recently Ron has been pretty vocal about his belief in Bitcoin and other digital currencies, and he seems to understand the potential they hold, plus the many benefits they can offer. He's even said that he wants Florida to be the "most pro-crypto state in the nation." Which, I mean, is a pretty bold statement to make, but hey, go big or go home, right?

But what exactly does "protecting Bitcoin" mean? Well, it seems like DeSantis is more concerned with protecting individuals' rights to use and invest in Bitcoin, rather than regulating the actual currency itself. He's made it clear that he doesn't want the government to put any unnecessary restrictions on Bitcoin usage, because he believes that individuals should have the freedom to use whatever currency they want.

And in all honestly, that's a pretty fair stance to take. In a world where governments and big banks have waaaay too much control over our money, it's refreshing to hear any politician say that they're not going to try to restrict our financial or personal freedom. I mean, this is the guy who basically gave a big middle finger to the mainstream media and told them he wasn't going to let them control the way he governs. You gotta respect the audacity...

According to his Presidential announcement speech, DeSantis believes that "individuals should have the freedom to use whatever currency they want" and that the government "shouldn't put any unnecessary restrictions on Bitcoin usage."

Okay, okay, I guess that doesn't sound too bad. Maybe we should all start stashing our cash in Bitcoin now. But hold your horses, waaait just a moment my illustrious and indystrioys felliw humans... isn't there always a catch?

You see if you could call it a problem, then the problem with getting too invested in cryptocurrency is that it can be incredibly an incredibly hostile, risky, volatile, obscene, yet fascinating ride... As comedian John Oliver once said, "Bitcoin is everything you don't understand about money combined with everything you don't understand about computers." And while that may be a bit of an exaggeration, there's no denying that the value of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can fluctuate dramatically from day to day.

Okay while DeSantis may be promising to "protect" Bitcoin, it's important to remember that there are risks involved in investing in cryptocurrency, or any currency. As comedian Jim Gaffigan would say, "It's like trying to figure out how to get hot dogs into the stock market." That being said, if you're willing to take a gamble, there's potential for big rewards... so making promises for a world that is meant to be completely decentralized from government and single financial entities, can seem a bit... "Oh yeah Ron?"

But hey too be fair to DeSantis. This guy has had quite the rollercoaster of a career so far, from being a little-known congressman to becoming the Governor of Florida and now throwing his hat into the presidential ring. I gotta hand it to him - he's got a whole lorra' guts. And let's be real, he's not the first politician to try to ride the wave of cryptocurrency...

Remember how everyone was talking about that whole "Libra" thing that Facebook was pushing a few years back? That ended up being a bit of a mucky disaster, but it just goes to show how much interested politicians and big tech companies are in this stuff. In fact DeSantis even signed legislation making Florida the first state to allow banks to use Bitcoin and other digital currencies. That's a pretty big deal in itself really given the state of the Biden Administration and its definite attack on the U.S. economy...

But just like with any new technology or trend, there are going to be able to put up with an ever-shaping environment which may have its up's  and many downs to factor in. While we all know crypto has the potential to revolutionize the way humanity thinks about money and banking, many people are still blind to the very existence of crypto. It's a huge leap in many respects to expect folk to just suddenly wake up one day and know what the shitbiscuit is going on at the ATM.

We have to consider crypto mass transactions will also raise questions about things like cybersecurity, not just from hackers but government, and the hoohar ridiculous concept that is financial regulation. As comedian Hasan Minhaj once joked, "Bitcoin is the currency of the future. It's like regular money, but online - and more importantly, it's not government-issued."

We lead up to what does all of this mean for DeSantis and his presidential campaign? It's hard to say at this point. Obviously, there are plenty of questions that still need to be answered about his stance on cryptocurrency and what his potential policies would look like if he were elected... plus we have to agree with his other policies first, and for me - well Don and Ron should bury the hatchet and have the campaign slogan... 'Don and Ron'... makes perfect sense... but we are sick of two-part politics, maybe these two could even somehow fix this.

But for now phew... let's just sit back, relax, and enjoy the spectacle that is American politics. Whether you love it or hate it, you can't deny that it's always entertaining. As another comedian Trevor Noah once said, "I'm not saying America is a reality show, but technically, the presidential election is a competition where people vote off the person they like the least." Period...

Aaaand there you have it... Ron DeSantis is joining the rat-race for president and he's apparently got some big plans for the world of cryptocurrency... Hmmm??? Whether or not he'll actually follow through on his promises remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure - this is going to be one heck of a ride. As comedian Russell Brand would say, "Don't confuse my personality with my attitude. My personality is who I am. My attitude depends on who you are." The same could be said for DeSantis and his crypto plans - we'll just have to wait and see.

While DeSantis seems to be against overregulation of cryptocurrencies, there are plenty of other politicians out there who would love nothing more than to control every aspect of our financial and personal lives... they would probably demand to know the colour of what you 'leave in the toilet bowl, pan, lavatory' if they could... And what if crypto becomes so popular it breaks the scales? It seems it's likely that the government will continue a relentless and unjust look at crypto, which could lead to a more restrictive regulatory environment... but we are 'Decentralized yes?

But hey my compatriots in breathing taxed oxygen, let's not end on a downer, shall we? I think it's pretty cool that we have a politician who's actually willing to talk about cryptocurrency in a positive light. Whether or not you believe in the long-term potential of Bitcoin and other digital currencies, it's clear that they're not going away anytime soon. In fact, they're only growing more popular by the day.

Speculating and wishful thinking? Maybe we're witnessing the birth of a new era in politics, one where politicians actually listen to the people and take their interests to heart. Or maybe it's all just a bunch of hot air. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But one thing's for sure - the crypto world is watching Ron DeSantis closely... you hear Ron?
