Chinese police authorities say that five people have been arrested after they attempted to kidnap the nation's 6th richest person, He Xiangjian. According to local sources, the kidnappers broke into Mr. He's villa in the city of Foshan, the Guangdong province, though his 55 year-old son He Jianfeng managed to evade the attackers. The son later snuck out of the property and swam across a nearby river to seek help and contact police.

A police spokesperson stated that all involved in the kidnapping attempt were arrested, and no one was hurt. The motive behind the attempted kidnapping is still unclear and under investigation.

Mr. He is the founder of the Midea Group, one of the world's largest home appliance manufactures that also owns Kuka, a German robotics company. He is worth an estimated 24.9 billion United States dollars, landing him the 36th place on the Forbes' richest people in the world list.
