Here we are again, this time with a completely different message than usual ...
The times we live in are changeable and extremely difficult; in fact, after two years of the global pandemic of Covid-19, which has deeply affected the whole world by continuously dividing entire states, countries, cities and families ... As if that were not enough, the economy of some countries has encountered several problems due to multiple work activities that have been affected by this pandemic situation. In this panorama of suffering affecting human society and beyond, another horrible and unfortunate contingency took place on 24 February 2022.
Dangerously redundant like many other similar actions, this day has completely changed the world balance scene. We are not here to dissect the Russian-Ukrainian question, but we certainly feel obliged to say a few words on it… especially as regards the uneasiness linked to the populations affected by the war.
That war is an abominable instrument retraced in the history of humanity on several occasions is a fact, that it is terrible for the defenceless population is another fact, but it is certain that we cannot ignore it. We will therefore speak of those who are in difficulty, who suffer, families forced to divide, children who need our help, the innocent who suffer abuse every day, even while we are writing to you.
And we also want to say a few words for the animal kingdom which is also affected by this spreading plague, even more innocent in the presence of the shadow of war. Who will take care of the animals left in the war territory? Why should they also suffer for faults that do not even concern them? Many refugees who managed to escape and still run away take their pets with them, albeit with great difficulty, and our moral support goes to them too: they show love and a sense of responsibility, facing even more difficulties for their friends. on all fours.
Our planet is another great victim of this war: the danger in using nuclear bombs is evident as well as potential damages to nuclear sites and we are well aware of the effects of their use on the environment. First the explosion in which about 40/50% of the total energy that causes the systematic damage of an explosion can be identified, the quantifiable thermal radiation for 50% of the damage from nuclear explosion which corresponds to the propagation of electromagnetic rays derivatives, the propagation of ionizing radiations which on humans, animals and the environment cause deterministic, stochastic somatic damage and stochastic genetic damage (the consequences of which are also radio induced neoplasms, genetic mutations, chromosomal aberrations ...), as well as the release of a part of residual radiation appreciable for years in living beings exposed to them.
These negative effects have been detected following any nuclear explosion in modern history (Hiroshima and Nagasaki in '45, New Mexico desert in '45, Kazakhstan in '49, Nevada Test Site in '51, Australia in '52, Algeria in '60, China in '64, India in '74, the Vela accident in '79, Pakistan in '98, North Korea in 2006). Despite this, we still talk about a possible use of weapons of this kind, we still produce energy using this type of technology, we still pollute our Mother Earth with production waste.
We are constantly threatening our planet which in this way cannot prosper as it should.
Ethicoins and the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta were not indifferent to this war: they mobilized to save as many refugees as possible: as many as seventy people managed to cross the border between Ukraine and Romania thanks to their timely help.
It was some members of the Order who, in the first person, went to recover them, in the midst of a thousand difficulties and dangers. They took them to Italy, to Milan and sorted them to three reception centres.
In addition to this humanitarian mission, the Members of the Order have personally contributed to organize the dispatch of three vans loaded with medicines, food, water and other basic necessities.
Ethicoins, which we have already told you about in the past, is also sensitive to this problem and has decided to donate 5% of the collection that is taking place during the first cycle of its ICO entirely to Ukrainian projects. For this reason, the Business Plan has been updated and includes a new item: the “Ukrainian projects”, which will be included in all three sections into which the charity is divided.
