Eight Year Old of Indian Crypto Investors Abducted, Kidnappers Demand For 100 BTC

Abductors demanded 100 BTC, worth $2.3 million, in exchange for the son of an Indian cryptocurrency investor. The eight-year-old boy, Anubhav, was kidnapped from his family house in Ujire Taluk of the Mangaluru district on the 17th of December.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the boy’s father, Bijoy, and grandfather, AK Shivan, are renowned businessmen in the region.

The reports further revealed that the kidnappers reduced the ransom to 60 BTC after the family reported to the police. Also, the police have created a special team to investigate the abduction. The team discovered that a message from the kidnappers came from a cell tower in the Hassan district of Karnataka. Hindustan Times noted that the last known location of the kidnappers was Alooru.

The police team in charge of tracking the abductors consists of Bantwal Dy SP Valentine D Souza, Inspector Nandakumar, Belthangady Circle Inspector PG Sandesh, and Dharmasthala station SI Pawan Kumar.

Since the investigation began, the police have arrested six suspects. The report added that all the suspects are familiar with the affected family. A DK Police source said that the police have set up check posts in the Charmadi Ghat forest area as they continue with their investigations and tracking. The source added:

“The investigations are at a sensitive stage and we cannot comment anything more.”
