El Salvador President Nayib Bukele "announced El Salvador's partnership with digital wallet company, Strike, to build the country's modern financial infrastructure using bitcoin (BTC) technology."
Which was followed by "Strike founder and CEO Jack Mallers said this will go down as the "shot heard 'round the world for bitcoin...."
What does this mean? While details are still forthcoming we know that financial experts will help build a new financial ecosystem with bitcoin as the base.
How large is El Salvador it has a population of 6.4M and a GDP worth ~$54B and they rely on the US Dollar $ as their currency. This would be a pivot away from the $ to BTC.
Summary - the world will watch and wait to see how successful this goes on the surface...behind the scenes they will be scrambling to move in this direction. Lots of infighting and failures will ensue, however, progress will be made.
