On August 6, Forbes reported that Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Hester Peirce was approved by the United States Senate for a second term. Peirce is known as “crypto mom” within the cryptocommunity for her pro-innovation and digital assets viewpoints.
- Peirce will now serve as commissioner until 2025
- In a senate testimony made on July 21, Peirce spoke in favour of innovation and said that she would work on a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies
- She disagreed with the SEC’s decision to shut down the Telegram project
- Has also shown support for Bitcoin ETFs
- Reelection comes at a time when America is accelerating its look at blockchain and digital assets
