[CRYPTO HACKATHON: The ‘Make Crypto Mobile’ Celo October 2021 Hackathon Includes a $25,000 Prize Pool for African Creators

, the mobile-first blockchain for emerging markets, has announced the ‘Make Crypto Mobile’ hackathon that will see $2.5 million in prizes and seed funding awared to developers, designers, and thinkers building on the Celo platform.

The hackathon is part of the ‘DeFi for the People’ initiative by Celo that seeks to scale DeFi usage to the majority of the global population.

The hackathon runs from October 8, 2021 – November 5, 2021 and will see projects in various categories awarded and funded across the globe.

$25, 000 has been allocated for African projects, in addition to other categories where African projects can still participate to win.

Below are the various track categories open to participating projects:

• DeFi Track
• NFT, Gaming and Creator Track
• Infrastructure and Web3 Track
• Green Track
• Interoperability Track

Requirements:

• Build (or update) software applications that interact with the Celo platform.
• Include functionality of DeFi and/or NFTs into your Project and/or improve developer resources with compelling SDKs or update existing ones. 

Celo’s mobile-first blockchain, with 1 over million wallet addresses across 113 countries, intends to leverage mobile phones, which is the most importance device and often the only access to the internet for billions of people, for the ambitious initiative.
