Parents use censorship to hide things like violence and sex from their children all the time. In that situation it is understandable. But when you think about it.......they are actually hiding the truth. Those things exist. They are real, and children eventually will have to know about them.
When twitter, facebook, and youtube censor uploads, posts and pictures they are acting as your parents. They think you either can't handle information, or they don't want you to know it exists. What they are really doing is upholding their own, or the government's belief system. Thinking for yourself is not something large centralized institutions approve of.
And when i say they are censoring, I'm not talking of the average graphic images normally not allowed. I'm talking about general information. Twitter has a history of protecting you.

Google, Facebook, and YouTube are the only source of information for some people. These companies are literally making reality.

That is a great article, and here is a true story:
A professor was teaching a science subject in a college class. The students couldn't find some information on Google, and challenged the professor wanting to know where he got this information. He said "The Library next door".
Twitter is your new mommy. Youtube is your new daddy. Google is your new teacher. Or you could go to the library next door, (or at least use a non-biased search engine.)
Adults do not need any type of censorship. Children do. If you do not want someone to know about alternative views on Health or Finance, then you must think you are their Mommy or Daddy.
