Mastercard is diving deeper into the world of cryptocurrency, announcing today it's adding payments-focused consulting services for crypto and digital currencies, and that it may eventually help develop central bank digital currencies. Olayinka Odeniran founded the Black Women Blockchain Council (BWBC) in 2018 after attending the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami that year. There, just three of 88 speakers were women, with the rest being mostly white men. Its so-called "networking party" was held at a strip club, where several women felt uncomfortable and disappointed. A self-styled "grey hat" hacker figured out how to trick Ethereum scaling solution Optimism into effectively printing unlimited Ether earlier this month. Software engineer Jay Freeman (who goes by Saurik online) didn't leverage the exploit. Instead, he reported the issue to Optimism's dev team, who paid him a $2-million bug bounty. Animoca Brands is branching into Japan in order to transform popular content into NFTs, Rarible and Cyber are teaming up on a new VR NFT marketplace, Steve Aoki is making more money from NFTs than music, and ThetaLabs is dropping an NFT to S22 phone buyers.
