Security was never the strong suit of browser-based crypto wallets to store Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and other cryptocurrencies. However, new malware makes the safety of online wallets even more complicated by directly targeting crypto wallets that work as browser extensions such as MetaMask, BINANCE Chain Wallet or COINBASE Wallet. Google could be a blockchain player. Sundar Pichai, CEO of the tech giant and its parent company Alphabet (ticker: GOOGL), acknowledged the power of Web3 and blockchain in the group's quarterly earnings call Tuesday. It was one of his first-if not the first-public comments on the technology. A Food and Drug Administration official said the regulator is writing new rules that could facilitate the adoption of blockchain technology in the food industry. The rule, which the FDA expects to complete in November, would require the food industry to maintain records associated with critical tracking events on the supply chain for certain products, according to Frank Yiannas, deputy commissioner for food policy and response at the FDA. It's an exciting time for technology and specifically how we interact with our technology and how our technology interacts with our world. One key source of excitement is the more centralized (and somewhat antiquated) technological hubs, such as Facebook (now Meta) and Amazon, coming under increased scrutiny for their business models that are based on taking and owning individuals' privacy.
