The website of the BINANCE exchange is still accessible deprived of extra access tools; the platform says crypto funds are safe. Authorities in Russia seem to be going afterwards Binance — the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange — as its area is currently in the list of forbidden websites in the country. On Sept. 24, Binance formally proclaimed on its Russian Telegram channel that Russian telecom regulator Roskomnadzor had additional the website to the register of platforms distributing forbidden information.
Rendering to the statement, Binance has been located in the list due to the delivery of data connected to the gaining of digital currencies like Bitcoin . Gleb Kostarev, Binance’s head of operations for Russia and the CIS, expressed Cointelegraph that the exchange proclaimed the news directly after the exchange conventional an announcement from Roskomnadzor.
Notwithstanding the area being located on the list of forbidden websites, Russians can still admission it without any additional tools such as a VPN. As of media time, the URL can be originated on the authorized register of blacklisted sites of Roskomnadzor. Rendering to the data, on June 2 20202, the website was listed, though the admission to the website ‘is not limited.’
In the community pronouncement, Binance executives highlighted that they had not received any information related to the restriction past to Sept. 24, stating:
‘We were not previously notified of any claims by law enforcement agencies, civil government services or courts previous to receiving the overhead notification. We have now betrothed our legal counsels for additional advice and would like to promise all of our Russian users that there will be no disruption to their services in the interim and that their funds are safe’.
As in June 2020, Binance’s website was supposedly banned by Roskomnadzor; the action appears to be unconnected to Binance’s plans to introduce its crypto debit card in Russia since the plans for it were announced somewhat advanced, in September 2020.
In late August, Roskomnadzor also blocked BestChange.ru, a major cryptocurrency website in Russia that provides an aggregator service of about 400 local crypto exchange websites.
