Alice is Hungry

Meet Alice.

Bob and Alice are never hungry.  They eat the fruit from their own garden, and take the fruit that they don't eat to the Food Shared. They also have chickens, and some goats too.  Jane and John have no fruit trees; but they too are never hungry.  John helps Bob milk the goats.  Jane makes cheese with the milk. They leave what they don't use at the Food Shared, and they take what they do.

There is an abundance at the Food Shared. The community understands that they all need to eat. At best, without food, they will suffer.  At worst, they will die.

Here is Fred.

Fred is always hungry but not for food. He can get the things that he needs at the Food Shared.  But, he's not satisfied with having enough.

Fred wants something called MORE than enough.  He has no need for it, but he wants it very much. And so he sets out in search of it.

Fred finds stones glistening in the river and he polishes them until they shine even brighter.  With his pockets full, he calls the community together, and says "If you give me your fruit, I will give you a shiny stone.  Look, you can see your reflection in it, see how it shines.  Take it, and give me your fruit.  Keep it and you will be wealthy".

Alice and Bob say "What is wealthy?"  And Fred replies, "It means you can have anything you want.

And because they have never known hunger, they give Fred all the fruit and the cheese and the milk.  And Fred gives them shiny stones in return.

Later, when they are hungry, they go back to Fred and offer him the 1 stone that he paid them for the 1 apple but Fred says: "Supply is limited now, you need to give me 2 stones to get your fruit back."

And the community feel something, it is called Fear. And they say to  Fred "Give us back our food, you told us that the stones would make us wealthy, and that when we were wealthy we could have anything we wanted. Well, we want our food.

But Fred isn't there anymore, in his place is the Food Sell.

And too late they realised that they had given their abundance to Fred in exchange for the shiny stones, and Fred had not given them enough shiny stones to ever buy it back again.

Note:

Globally, about 8.9% of the world's population — 690 million people — go to bed on an empty stomach each night. Since 2014, the number of people affected by hunger has been slowly on the rise. If it continues at this rate, it'll exceed 840 million by 2030. WorldVision
