Have you heard about a Senegalese-American star and philanthropist Akon who’s building the world's first futuristic cryptocurrency city in Senegal?
The cryptocurrency of this citadel will be Akoin. The Stellar-based cryptocurrency was created to be used as a common currency between 54 African countries.
Many have asked if it was worth buying this token? Now I can say that yes, it was worth it. Then it cost $0.14, three weeks ago it went up to $0.5, and then dropped a little and today it’s trading at $0.488.
The Akoin cryptocurrency is already being used at Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) in Kenya as a pilot for Akon City. “We are going to be using exclusively Akoin by the end of 2021,” Julius Mwale said last November.
The company works according to the approved roadmap. The coin has been issued and listed on Bittrex Global. The city is already under construction. And most likely it will be built on time.
But this is not it. Another similar futuristic cryptocurrency city will be built in Africa. This city will be built in another African country, Akon announced recently.
The Ugandan government will provide him with land to build a new crypto city. The construction of a crypto city in Uganda is slated for completion in 2036.
When Akon was asked if ordinary Ugandans will be able to afford to live in the futuristic Akon City, the singer replied, “I know that if I build it there, they will find a way to afford it, because it will motivate them ... Ultimately, when you create opportunity, people grow with this opportunity, people learn from this opportunity, people are motivated by this opportunity."
A very evasive and politically correct answer. It is clear that this shining Elysium among not very wealthy African villages will not be created for the poor.
But Akon plans to start by building such cities across Africa to rebuild his home country of Uganda first and then promote prosperity throughout Africa.
And I think it’s pretty cool.
