Top accommodation provider Airbnb might offer cryptocurrencies as payment options starting this year, CEO Brian Chesky hinted in a series of Tweets Wednesday.

Chesky listed out a series of demands its users expect Airbnb to incorporate this year. Out of the top six demands, the introduction of cryptocurrency payments earned the top position as the most wanted service for 2022.

The response came after Chesky asked his over 400K Twitter followers: “If Airbnb could launch anything in 2022, what would it be?” The tweet, since then, received more than 4,000 responses from his audience.

Chesky then compiled the data and listed the top six consumer demands for the year and crypto assets were the most requested demand from users. The CEO said the company has already been working on some demands.

According to the official website, there are currently four payment methods available in most countries and regions: Debit and Credit Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.Chesky revealed that the company has processed more than $336 billion in payments since 2013.

When asked in November by if Airbnb would introduce crypto payments anytime soon, the CEO answered:

“We are definitely looking into it. Absolutely. Like the revolution in travel, there is clearly a revolution happening in crypto.”
