It looks like another movie about the world of cryptocurrencies is coming to the silver screen soon and this film was funded by cryptocurrencies. Some time ago, I told you about a film that would stage the story of the Winklevoss twins (click here if you want to read my article about it). This time the film would be about another cryptocurrency big name : Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin.
The Film
The role of Satoshi Nakamoto would be interpreted by Akie Kotabe (from Jason Bourne). It seems that Talisa Garcia and Emilia Fox would also be there. The film is called Decrypted and here is the synopsis :
An outrageous and provocative dark comedy about a mismatched NSA team who kidnap the creator of Bitcoin - Satoshi Nakamoto - and attempt to torture him for the information they need to destroy crypto-currencies.
My Opinion
Well, when I read the synopsys I was moderately excited by the film I have to admit it. Because it is supposed to be a dark comedy and it is not really my type to be honest. But then I read this Phil Harris interview, the producer of the film, who said :
We will be releasing it to some crypto video on demand platforms. I'm not sure if you know of any, LiveTree is one, then, you got Breaker, you got Movieschain, Cinezen, Cinema Well.
And then I was super hyped. Why ? Because it will be a film on cryptocurrencies, funded by cryptocurrencies and which would be available on platforms that use cryptocurrencies. From Crypto to Crypto.
If you read my articles, you know that I really like this kind of news because I like the idea that more and more people can be introduced to the world of cryptocurrencies. It also seems that in his interview, he says that the screenwriter of the film is passionate about cryptos. We can therefore hope that he transmits his passion to the viewership through this film.
For the moment the shooting of the film has been interrupted due to the coronavirus but this should not have more impact than a slight delay in the release of the film.
I don't know about you, but for my part I think I will see it.
