We all know that Russia invaded Ukraine and the war is still going on. In such dark situations, we are also hearing the things related to cryptocurrency and the discussions are going on at the highest possible levels. And one more thing to point out is that there are both the bright and the dark side of crypto in this war situation, we will see the bright side in this article and the dark side in the upcoming articles.
How Crypto Communities Supported Ukraine?
On 24 February 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine and the whole world realized that war has begun. All the international organizations including NATO and the so-called superpower America could not do anything apart from giving warnings in the first couple of days. After two days of the invasion, on 26 February 2022, there was a tweet from the official Ukrainian Twitter handle about the announcement regarding cryptocurrency donations. In that tweet, there were the wallet addresses of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT (ERC-20). You can see the tweet below.
There was a wave of news media outlets reporting that the Ukrainian government has been accepting cryptocurrency donations and the news spread like a wildfire in and out of the crypto communities. And without delaying there was a huge response from the crypto communities. Millions worth of crypto donations were given to the Ukrainian government in a couple of hours in the form of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT/USDC coins. The distribution of coins was:
- 10.22 Bitcoin
- 186 Ethereum
- $50,000 USDT/USDC
List Of Organizations Accepting Crypto Donations From Ukraine
As of now, the time has passed and the need for food, drinking water, clothes, and other basic needs has to be provided to the Ukrainian people who are stuck in the wars and also to the people who left their everything behind and fled to the neighboring countries. Many of the NGOs and volunteer groups have come forward for help and now they are also seeking help from crypto communities. Here is the list of such groups who are bravely helping people of the Ukraine.
1) Ukraine DAO (UkraineDAO.eth)
Ukraine DAO acts as a web3 fundraiser for the small organizations which are helping the people who are suffering from the war. Even though it has no history and its tweeter handle shows the joining date of February 2022 (which shows the organization is particularly made after the war) they have associated with well know organizations in Ukraine as well as global organizations.
The Ukraine DAO is using Party Bid as a platform for raising funds and the official Ethereum address "UkraineDAO.eth" and till the time of writing this article $4.02 Million worth donations through the Party Bid platform and $419.74k from UkraineDAO.eth has been donated to the Ukraine DAO.

2) Endaoment.org (endaoment.eth)
The Endaoment is a USA-based platform and is working since 2019 and has been providing the launchpad for the Non Profit organizations to raise funds. They have also run to help Ukraine in the war situation and have been raising funds to help out the people who are suffering the war. To this moment endaoment has collected $496,556.78 ($1,351.85 through crypto) worth of donations from 88 generous donors.
The total raised amount will distribute among the following seven organizations:
- Revived Soldiers Ukraine
- NOVA Ukraine
- US-Ukraine Foundation
- International Committee of the Red Cross
- Hope for Ukraine
- LELEKA Foundation
- Ukraine Children‘s Aid Fund

Overall Donations
The crypto data providing firm Dune Analytics has been tracking the total crypto donations to the various fundraisers. According to them, the $16.11 Million worth of cryptocurrency has been donated to support Ukraine and Ukrainian people.
