YouTube On Brave Browser - Fringe Benefits

Do repost and rate:

If you are using BRAVE Browser on your phone or computer, you are probably using it for 3 main reasons:

1. Better privacy and lesser tracking than the other main browsers (like Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari)

2. A superb ad blocker than turns off ads on all websites.

3. Ability to earn BAT which is a good way to enter the crypto world or start investing in the crypto world.

I'm not going to dwell on the above points as there are thousands of articles about these aspects of the Brave Browser. Its functionality and interface are as slick as Chrome and there is no real disadvantage while using Brave as your default browser.

What I would like to mention specifically about Brave is how it enhances the YouTube experience. Browsing YouTube on Brave browser has 2 key advantages that make it immensely advantageous. These 2 key features are not available on the YouTube app or if you browse YouTube on your regular browsers.

Disclaimer: Both these features are constantly changing as YouTube tries to over-ride Braves features and vice versa.

1. No more YouTube ads:

YouTube ads are one of the most annoying features on their website and app. Over the last couple of years, the sheer number of ads, especially the non-skippable ads, has sky-rocketed. Ads come up right in the middle of longer videos too. To be honest, not all ads are kid-friendly and monitoring your child if he's watching a sports video or documentary is not easy. Brave puts a rest to all that. Watching videos on youtube on your brave browser results in an ad-free experience. This is a superb feature. But I must state that Google is constantly working to over-ride this feature and Brave also constantly releases updates to keep up. For the most part, ads are not seen and this is certainly a cool advantage to have.

2. Play a video in the background on your mobile:

When you are using your android phone, going to another app or window while playing a YouTube video results in the video (and audio) stopping. You have to constantly keep the window in focus and screen on to listen or watch videos. This is a disadvantage if you're listening to music or a talk that needs no video input. Enter BRAVE! When you change windows or open an app or even turn off the screen, the video continues to play. This works on Android  - I haven't checked it on iPhones as yet. Obviously lining up a playlist and playing it as you exercise or work at your desk is a huge advantage. Keeping the screen off lowers the battery usage significantly. Again, there may be glitches in this feature occasionally. If you get a phonecall or play another audio file or video on a website, the original video pauses.

It's not all Hunky Dory though. There are occasional glitches I've seen - but very rarely. The YouTube app makes scrolling through videos and commenting a little easier. The app also allows you to minimise the player while browsing through other videos.

What do you think about these cool features on the Brave Browser? Were you aware of these features? Did you face glitches when you tried out these features?
