A large batch of funds was withdrawn from wallets that store bitcoins stolen four years ago from Bitfinex. Over the past week, the total amount of coins withdrawn exceeded 4571 BTC (~$51.5 million).

On August 3, Whale Alert noticed four transactions totaling 620 BTC (~$7 million at the exchange rate at the time of writing). Bitcoins were moved to previously unknown addresses.

On July 29, attackers moved 448 BTC (~$5 million) in a single transaction. A few days before, 12 transactions for 3503 BTC (~$39.5 million) were made from wallets. This series of transfers was one of the largest since the exchange was hacked.

Prior to this, the funds associated with the hack were moved on July 24, when the attackers transferred 260.71 BTC and 271.2 BTC. Even earlier, hackers made 20 transactions from 15 to 33 BTC totaling more than $4 million.

On may 22, 28.39124 BTC ($258,000) was withdrawn from another wallet where marked bitcoins are stored. On June 2, another 77,644901 BTC (almost $800,000) was transferred from the address where the other part of the stolen funds was stored.

The Bitfinex hack occurred on August 2, 2016. In total, the attackers stole 119,756 BTC ($71.8 million at the exchange rate at that time).
