Why I am quitting Rollercoin

I have had a love hate relationship with ROLLERCOIN if I am being honest.

I first found the game I don't know like 2 years ago.

November 17th, 2020 to be exact.

Originally I deposited about $40 in ETH into the game to buy a few miners and get a leg up on the game. It was worth it to me at the time. Even if I never earned anything $40 in ETH I got for free anyways was a investment I was okay with.

Since then I have made that money back and then some but not a lot. If I had to guess I would guess that I withdrew about $80 of crypto. So really I made about $40. That sounds terrible and it is but I am now at a point where all withdrawals are all profit. Also where they get you is that you need the ingame token RLT so you put some or most of your mining power towards RLT so that you can buy more miners. It was only recently that I said screw it and went 100% mining for non RLT tokens. But more on that later.

I want to talk about a few good changes they made that got me back into playing Rollercoin everyday before I get into why I am quitting.

They have now started to have their mini events constantly. They are events that last about a week and over you various prizes for spending RLT of leveling up your game levels. There was so growing pains as they figured out the points value for each task but I think they have it pretty well ironed out at this point.

For those of us who play games it's a nice way to keep things fresh and earn rewards. With Rollercoin you have to constantly earn more and more miners or you will fall behind in the ranking and earn way less crypto. So it's a constant battle in that way.

In the last year they also introduced the Task Wall which let's you complete surveys for their in game token RLT. I was a huge fan of this because it was a way to quickly earn that RLT which lets you buy miners or whatever.

Each week there is also a leaderboard for whomever earns the most RLT from surveys wins more RLT. It's great in theory until you learn it's either rigged or abused by bots. For context surveys pay out roughly .1 RLT to 2RLT per survey. Or at least I have never seen a survey pay more than 2 RLT. Then you look at the leaderboard and 1st place has done 14 surveys which earned him 170 RLT which is 12.14 per survey.

Then the guy in 7th place has done 1 survey worth 67.5 RLT.

And here is me lol

But still free RLT is free RLT so it was a great addition at the time.

Now let's switch gears as to why I am quitting Rollercoin though. I am going to try to keep it fair and as unbias as I can.

The Rollercoin team is starting to make decisions that I don't agree with.

Let's talk batteries. So the way the game used to work was you had your miners on racks and at least once every 5 days you would have to login to the game and "recharge" your miners back to 5 bars and energy. Then over 5 days that energy would go down and you would need to recharge it. It was a great simple system but the Rollercoin team thought it was a bad system.

What stands out to me is one line in that post

For instance, among the daily audience, approximately 17% of users do not complete “Play Any Game” Daily Quest, which involves playing just one game — the minimum activity in the game.

That was very telling to me that the Rollercoin team wanted more active participation and wanted users to sync way more time into the game. The way that they say "the minimum activity in the game" sat wrong with me as if we should be required to play at least 1 game a day.

The reason that bugs me is if the new electricity system was to play 1 game a day to keep your miners charged then I would be all for it and understand. However that was NOT the case.

The decision was for the team to get greedy.

So the new system was that you need batteries to charge your electricity for the miners. Logically using batteries to power your crypto miners doesn't make sense but whatever lol

The way to get 1 "free" miner each day is to complete a task wall survey.

Half the reason I liked Rollercoin was it's flexibility. I could play 100 games in a day and boost my mining power, and I could do 10 surveys in a day to earn a lot of RLT. Then if I was busy with life I could just make sure I log in once every 5 days to keep my miners going strong. There was also a system where once you played a lot of games you got a mining boost and you would need to play 1 game every 24 hours to keep that boosted mining power.

So instead of using the 1 game a day system which they kept for keeping that mining power boost they decided to essentially make you do surveys to keep your mining power.

And I know people will point out that you can buy Batteries with RST (this is like RLT but is for specific seasons) that is not a solution for lower level players. I do not earn 60 RST each day to purchase a battery and even if I did that would mean I would have no RST to save to buy part cases or other things which means 1 thing.

Rollercoin wanted to keep what they call active players around is only creating a bigger divide for those whale players and the low guys like me. The Rollercoin team is purposely pushing out the little guys.

It is either overwhelmed by bots or whales

The premise of Rollercoin is fun and creative. Which is why I got pulled into it in the beginning. I already talked about how the Task Wall Leaderboard is just bonkers and broken. But the general premise with Rollercoin is the more mining power you have the more you earn and the more you can reinvest and get more mining power.

So those who pumped in a lot of money to buy miners and such have a way bigger advantage to earn more which honestly is totally fair. However it would appear to me that the Rollercoin team is playing into that. The mini events I talk about give out points for spending RLT. You know who earns a crap ton of RLT each day? The whales. So the Rollercoin team is actively compounding the whales lead over everyone else.

Again this isn't wrong or unfair or anything but in my opinion they are actively working towards their demise. If this same course of action continues then what is going to happen is that Rollercoin fails and here is why.

If say only the top 1,000 players earn even decent crypto returns they will slowly earn a bigger and bigger share of the mining power and they can grow exponentially versus everyone else.

That means all the little guys who play games for mining power stop earning anything and stop playing.

That also means all those little guys stop viewing their ads and doing survey

That directly means the Rollercoin team earns less ad revenue from those sources

Which means that eventually they won't be able to pay out crypto.

Which equals the death of Rollercoin.

If the team doesn't dramatically fix this and make changes to encourage the little guys to keep playing or encourage then to stick around the game will go under. I will state that is not something I wish for them but it's just the writing on the wall as I see. It has taken me 2+ years to give it up even with crappy rewards based on how much time I have put into it.

Some games are unplayable at higher levels

The games are so unbalanced. Even now there are only 3-4 games that I will even play.

Coin-Match

Dr. Hamster

Flappy Rocket

Coin-Flip

Those are the games I will play

At higher levels there are times in Lambo Rider, Token Surfer, 2048, Crypto Hamster that it may be possible you can not win the game in the allocated time no matter how good you are because of how the level gets generated. That is fine but over time of needing to just win 1 more game to level it up and dying every time it gets old. Everyone you win a certain game 3 times it levels up and gets harder.

Also they got rid of the "Enter the Chainers" game that was my favorite and easiest.

Those "coming soon...' games have been there since I started playing over 2 years ago so that is also pretty lame that they do not release new games or if they (Enter the Chainers) they remove it :(

So with all that being said my time in Rollercoin is coming to an end

It's time to say goodbye to their Discord server. I will keep the tab open for Rollercoin until I run out of RST to purchase batteries and those batteries run out and at that point I will request withdrawals of all crypto that is over the minimum threshold and then I will unpin that BRAVE Browser tab and say goodbye once and for all. It has been a fun ride Rollercoin but it's just not worth it anymore. I don't regret our time together but if I stayed any longer I would start to regret it.
