Recently Bitcoin has been doing great and staying mainly level in value with occasional spikes in profit.
One main event happened that will change bitcoin forever... PayPal decided to allow its users to purchase bitcoin from PayPal and keep that bitcoin in their accounts. When PayPal declared this the price spiked nearly to 24000$ and has not dropped much since then, trading in the 23000s.
That event alone will create stability due to before that bitcoin was less available to regular people. But now the market is expanding.
However this is not a 100% reliable currency so take precautions for how much you invest in.
