Bitcoin appeared in early 2009. Since then, its price increased from Bitcoins to the cent, all the way up to $19,000+ per one Bitcoin. We all know the story of the man who bought two pizzas with 10.000 Bitcoins in May 2010, which would be worth about $100 million in 2020.
So the question arises.. is there a limit to this growth, and if so what is it?
Many have come up with predictions, some optimistic some not so much, here are some of them:
Chamath Palihapitiya – $1,000,000 (by 2037)
Chamath Palihapitiya is the Founder of Social Capital and Co-Owner of the Golden State Warriors.
Wences Casares – $1,000,000 (by 2027)
Wences Casares is the Founder and CEO of Xapo, a Bitcoin wallet startup, and a board member at PayPal, among various other roles.
Jeremy Liew – $500,000 (by 2030)
Jeremy Liew is a partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, famed as the first investor in the social media app Snapchat.
Mike Novogratz – $7.5 trillion market cap (2029)
Mike Novogratz is a former hedge fund manager who’s been investing in Bitcoin and blockchain technology for a long time.
And now let's look at some of the predictions that came true already (or not):
Correct: Tim Draper – $10,000 (by 2018)
Correct: Mike Novogratz – $10,000 (by April 2018)
Incorrect: John McAfee – $500,000 (by 2020)
Incorrect: Ran Neuner – $50,000 (by 2019)
While Crypto and Bitcoin becomes more and more accessible to a larger number of people, and more institutions start to invest and integrate payment and trading of cryptos, I think some of the predictions are not at all far fetched. What do you think? Let me know in the comments ;)
