Basic Attention Token (BAT) was created by the co-founder of Mozilla and Firefox whose main intention was to improve the security, fairness, and efficiency of digital advertising through the use of blockchain technology. It is the native token of the BRAVE web browser and it is built on top of Ethereum.
Advertising industry has become a monster which doesn't mind if it intrudes the private privacy but Brave is trying to beat that monster. How successful it is going to be, we can just give our thoughts and nothing more!
BAT is looking to change the game completely, it is looking to monetize attention by paying users for watching ads. And how it is going to pay them? By using its own token.
Just to give you a small heads up to what actually is the world of ads, in 2016, Google was the largest recipient of global ad revenue having collected $79 billion while Facebook also collected a staggering $27 billion in revenue. And if you checked my previous post on Instagram you can understand how metadata works on finding the right people to show the right ads.
Why do we need Brave?
There are a considerable number of web browser, each of them proclaiming that they are the fastest, safest, lightest and we can go a lot further with the ''est'' thing.
Brave has incorporated features that monetize users attention and remove all the other needless expenditure related to ad networks.
Brave browser uses the blockchain to keep track of all this data, it is impossible for someone to interfere with it.

Let me introduce you with Brave's features:
Improved experience: since it doesn't use any external servers pages, ads are opened faster and this improves also the battery life and less data usage. All this info can be seen every time you use Brave, in its dashboard you can see how many ads have been block, how many bytes of data have been saved and so on.
Improved advertisement: Brave browser holds all of users data along with active tabs, URLs, keyword search entry information, browsing information which means it is picky on ads and chooses the right time when to show them.
Privacy: last but not least browsing data is kept completely private all the information that advertisers need for ad-matching will be unavailable, and also third party trackers are blocked automatically.
What is the use of its Token?
BAT is the first blockchain protocol to capture the digital advertising industry which is growing exponentially. Publishers are having a hard time as well. Companies such as Google and Facebook take 73% of all ad profits and almost 99% of growth rates. Publisher profits recently dropped by 66% and bots inflicted $7.2 billion in damage last year. They also suffer as more and more users started using ad-blocker services. More than 600 million desktops and smartphones have an adblocker.
Publishers as us here have hard time because of companies such as Google, Facebook, Instagram and so on who take above 70% of all ad profits. Many and many desktop and smartphone users were pushed to add adblockers in their browsers, and the main reason is the pop up ads!
BAT can be earned but since it is a very promising token it also can be bought because it is considered as a very good investment.
How do you earn BAT?
You can download Brave browser for any device, PC, Android, IOS and the good thing is you can sync all of them and no matter which one you are using you can earn BAT Token from each device! If you go to the Triangle symbol or by reaching settings and allowing Ads, you activate the Brave Rewards. You will be seeing pop up notifications which you can just click on them and then close it and this way you are rewarded a sum of BAT. The good thing is that you can also tip publishers if you want to.
Where are they stored?
There is a wallet included in the browser and the Tokens are claimed each month. You have to sync you Uphold wallet with the browser and in the end of the month you just click ''Claim''! Simple as that.
As per mobile phones, until a few months ago you couldn't receive any rewards from them, but now you will need to have at least 25 BAT to verify your account and then that sum will be transferred to your Uphold wallet.

However, there is amount which you'll be paying for certain activities such a withdrawing funds to private wallets on crypto networks, or to banks through the Swift network in a small number of countries.
