Bitcoin surges to record above $19,800, topping 2017 high - $20k USD: Bitcoin's previous All Time High. This is the true psychological barrier; once broken, will attract a new wave of buyers. An upwards break of 20k USD signals to world that Bitcoin is here to stay. In my mind (& many others), it's incredibly inevitable at this point. There is now real world demand for Bitcoin as a store of value to the great theft of inflation. Currencies all over the world are slowly & painfully collapsing, taking their citizens wealth in the process. Bitcoin is the exit plan.
The last bull run in 2017, Bitcoin rose from $1000 in January to $20,000 USD in December. If a 20x gain is replicated in this run, we'll see $400k USD. Looking at previous trends the multiplying factor is decreasing, however prior events are not always a leading indicator. This cycle, more people are waking up to government corruption & how the money system actually works. We could see Bitcoin go to ridiculous heights - no one really knows. I think governments & central banks will FOMO in soon - they will want their piece of the pie. Maybe some are already buying. Which is corrupt in itself if it is. Using printed money to buy Bitcoin for themselves at tax payers expense. Let's buy Bitcoin before they do - power to the people. The world is in economic turmoil because of government/central bank greed; constantly encroaching on their citizens.
I used to think governments were always ahead of the game, now I'm starting to think they're severely lagging behind. I don't think they've realized; once Bitcoin is in the hands of the individual, it gives them incredible power (take your funds off the exchange & take custody before they do). I really don't think they can see where this is truly going. I think it's absolutely brilliant that Bitcoin was initially released as public & transparent, this completely fooled governments into thinking they would always have surveillance of the LEDGER for control & taxation purposes.
Forceful surveillance of your transaction history is a violation of your rights. Forcing your to connect your identity to your bitcoin address is a violation of your rights. It's not about anti-money laundering or terrorism, they fund both these things as a day job. You're privacy needs to be preserved for a multitude of reasons. Your privacy is your Identity online; your identity is tied to all your assets, your reputation & wellbeing - your life. Most cannot see why it's so important - it will be everything soon. Having privacy, shouldn't make you feel like a criminal. Governments are going to get nasty with this technology shift. In the end, Bitcoin will win. It has become too big to kill. It's just going to be the transition period that will be unpleasant.
The reality is, they're only going to lose tax revenue with it's 2nd layer technology. I think the Lightning Network will enable this - it is privacy by default. When you use the Lightning Network, it is onion routed like TOR. There is no public ledger. As soon as the majority catches onto this fact, it will become a tax haven - like cash. People will probably use it out of spite; as payback for the years of stolen money. Not you or I can stop this. Governments will shrink, the future will be privatized. Taxation may change to another name, something that doesn't sound like theft. Whatever it is, it may well become voluntary.
The age of the Bitcoin & internet is allowing people to break free of the system & become self-sovereign - this is a good thing. Politicians have no jurisdiction online. Many might argue governments have done a lot of good in the world. I thinks it's clear they're only becoming more parasitic to humanity. The negatives far outweigh the positives. We clearly need a change. Bitcoin is the base layer for whatever falls into place. This is becoming increasingly clear, in my opinion.
