I am one of those idiots, who ignored bitcoin for way too long and started to find out what it is about, now that it exploded AGAIN.
I checked out some cryptocoins and tried to feel out which coin makes the most sense. In the short run it seems obvious that bitcoin is rising on a wave of hype. BUT as a newbie reading mostly on here, what cryptocurrency is all about i felt like bitcoin and ether have trobule with high transactioncosts.
So i chose the coin that i felt to have the best perspective. Are you ready for the big reveal!
I chose Nano!
It seems like it has a open and wholesome community, a decent market cap and it was on moving up!
Then i had to decide how to get that stupid coin into my possession. My mind almost melted trying to comprehend all the technical talk about exchanges and wallets. There is talk about staking,farming, NFT, Defi. I honestly have still no idea what all this stuff means.
First mistake ( Don't rush into crypto!)
So i made a progamer move and googled "how to buy nano".
Binance seemed like a decent solution and i was tired of sifting my way through so much equal information. There is really no way to know who is right and who is wrong.
Second mistake (Read the small print!)
So i bought Nano for 50€ at Binance. Seems fine right?
All i needed was my credit card!
That is weird. They call buying Nano with your credit card "simplex". Doesnt matter. Just buy!
So how much Nano did i get?
6.61 Nano.
If you can do the math you might wonder about that result.
What did i miss? Simplex charges a 10€ fee for its transactions! I basically only got 40€ worth of Nano instead of 50€.
Third mistake?
This i dont actually consider a mistake because i am thinking longterm, but i am open to discussion with you guys. You are surely more experienced than i am. Since buying it, Nano fell 7,7% . Is it actually a good longterm investment in a coin you can believe in or am i wasting my money on "shitcoin" as people seem to call it.
Conclusion.
You might wonder why i even waste my time with such a low amount. Besides the fact, that i dont have a lot of money i can comfortable lose, i consider this money my tuition fee. I?m completely fine with losing it. I just need a little skin in the game to care about crypto.
The best way to learn for me is by making mistakes and hurting myself.
