When I was young, (well, young-) I was always surrounded by people who were fascinated with things, and I, being one of the oddballs, was fascinated with the worked. I was the kid desperately trying to get a peek at the gears I couldn’t physically see in the cuckoo-clock on the wall above the teacher’s head. Nevertheless, I knew they were there, and knowing they were there bestowed this incredible urge to take the damn thing off the wall and tear it inside out to learn all I could about why, and more importantly,  it does what it does. 

Yes, that know-it-all kid nobody likes in 9th grade math class that taught the teacher to teach, yeah that was me. 

Fast forward a few years, I drop out of high school at the beginning of my senior year to pursue a short-term, laughable at best, career in the food industry, A.K.A: I quit school to work at McDonald’s. Laughable, indeed. 

I just want to pause for a moment, and thank all of you for reading up to this point, but I do encourage you to continue reading, I promise there’s a life lesson in here somewhere… probably. 

I got bored. I thought entering the workforce seemed like a good play at the time, I grew up/am currently in poverty, and for those of you right there with me, you know it’s a really dark place to be. Anyways, I got bored. Not just at McDonald’s, I tried Subway, local pizza places, delis, even switched to retail (hated it, zero out of ten, would not recommend to my worst enemy). Tried the army, failed basic with medical issues, resulting back to square one, again.

And again. 

College, trade school, freelancing; I try things, I pick them up, I put them down, rinse and repeat. 

If you haven’t read my blog description, you wouldn’t know this, but I’m 24. Maybe I have ADHD, maybe I don’t, but I get so incredibly bored with daily, mundane, sheep-like tasks. 

I’m a sure-fire author at heart. I adore writing almost more than anything in the world, it’s a feeling I won’t ever be able to describe into words, and I’ve been doing it for a while now. My long term goal, as is any serious author’s, is to be published some day. Not a clue what genre of books I’d like to dabble into, but something, somewhere down the road, it’d be a hell of a dream come true. 

My other #1 passion is gaming. But I’m going to save that for another entry. 

Recently, however, I may have accidentally stumbled into my third and fourth #1 passion’s, “The Game” , and the community integration that follows. Allow me to elaborate. The Game is this elaborate idea I’ve created in my head that revolves around my recent discoveries about cryptocurrency and what it’s all about. 

I’ve done an ungodly amount of research in the past 72 hours.

The Game is simple: combine the 4 top passions and all the “obstacles” that have held me back together, and literally win at life. I get to read and learn all the how’s and why’s I want, accessible (quite literally) at the tips of my fingers. I then get to share that information (paired with some of my own unique ideas/perspectives) with a community that’s truly interested via these articles. I make money doing so, even if it doesn’t amount to much, I’m still entirely and completely grateful. I’m able to then go take those earnings and participate in an absolutely incredible, “game-like” digital NFT marketplace called OPENSEA (seriously if you haven’t looked into this, do it now.)

There is a limitless number of opportunities here, there are so many different directions this path could steer me. This is incredibly exciting for somebody like me who has never had life “easy”, and I say the word “easy” very lightly, because on top of being incredibly book-smart, I’m lucky enough to have a bit of self awareness, too. I know there are others who have it worse, and my sympathy goes out to those people. But this… this “thing” that I’ve stumbled upon is absolutely earth-shattering to me. I’m fully convinced this path will change my life for the better, and I think something like this is a real way to give the underdog a fighting chance.
