We summon the Litecoin

My apologies for radio silence, if anyone's still out there. It's been for good, not sad. October is a fave month for me: my anniversary, colder weather, HALLOfreakingWEEN*, trees turning, and, for some reason I can't explain, October feels like the turn of the new year for me (it'd make more sense if it were, at least August/September, on an academic year, but nooooo). So, I've been living it up, not sweating, eating "snack" size candy 2 of 3 meals a day, and planning my next 12 months on earth....and, indulging in my annual tradition: 30 (+) horror movies in 31 days*.

* in honor of HALLOfreakingWEEN, of course, obvs.

I've not done a single crypto-related activity all month (HODL time) -- well, on purpose. I did one accidentally. Hence, a post in the midst of my Gonetober.

Maybe you knew about this. I missed it, like I do so very many other news items. But didya know that crypto funded a horror flick?

Yep. Last year, apparently (though the movie released this April. The Litecoin Foundation produced a film called "We Summon the Darkness." Not just produced. Executive produced.

Interesting, right?

There's curiously NOT a lot from Litecoin themselves on this, aside from the tweet and this blog post/press release which announces the production and the fact that they sponsored the San Diego Film Festival (interesting, but lots of corps and rando biz sponsor film fests). A named producer of the film, Kyle Tekiela, is also a Litecoin Foundation volunteer, so that may be how the connection was made to begin with, and, as for the whys, here's a quote from the release:

“Mass adoption requires two things: awareness and real world use cases,” says Litecoin creator and managing director of the Litecoin Foundation, Charlie Lee. “The film industry checks off both of these boxes in a compelling way. Litecoin has the potential to be a powerful tool for film financing, and by collaborating with the creative and influential people in this space we have an opportunity to introduce Litecoin to millions of individuals across the globe.”

What I'd like to hear is why, since the film's release, there's been crickets from Litecoin. It can't be because of the film itself -- which was good, but not GREAT imho** -- it's gotten solid reviews and press for an indie genre movie, so it didn't shame the family name.

** it's a twist movie. The twist is good. Quite good. Then, once that aHHH TWIST! passes, it's...fine. Pretty standard slashy slashy stuff. It's worth seeing, especially since it's streaming free on US Netflix rn.

Anyhoo. What do you all think? Have you seen crypto dipping its toes into arts? Tell me about it, since I probably haven't heard, lol.

Comments, follows, tips hearted muchly.

Happy HALLOfreakingWEEN! ????????????????????????
