Was the RollerCoin Season 1 Pass worth it?

Do repost and rate:

I have been struggling with this for a little while. I forked over roughly $150 to buy this season pass. I did so for a few reasons and they are worth mentioning.

1) Never invest anything you are afraid to lose. All my crypto was earned online and not from FIAT so if I lost the $150 it wouldn't be too bad.

2) I enjoyed the ROLLERCOIN game and wanted to get an extra boost to my mining power

3) It was the first time they introduced the Season Pass and since down the road you will be able to sell your miners I figured the 1st season miner rewards would be worth a pretty penny later

Now with that being said let's get into the Season Pass. You could purchase the Season Pass for 149.99 RLT or roughly $150. That would allow you to earn ALL the rewards from the Season (assuming you earned enough XP throughout the season). Every 7 days there was these tasks you could complete for a total of 150 XP.

There was also the login bonuses for each day you logged in. You could earn a total of 100 XP each week just for logging in each day.

That means there was a total of 250 XP each week. With the season spanning 2 months that means 250xp times 8 weeks is 2,000 XP which is exactly how much you need to unlock all the rewards. Needless to say I did not get all the rewards because well I didn't get a referral every week so I missed out on 50XP each week. I did however make it up to level 16 out of 20 which I am quite happy about.

Here are the rewards:

You can see that there are 6 rewards for Free which meant even if you didn't buy the Season Pass you could still unlock them. The Bonus Powers and the 15 RLT is nothing to laugh at for free.

I wanted to quantify the ROI with getting the Season Pass but it is hard since those Exclusive miners are not for sale. So I had to take educated guesses based on other miners that are for sale. What it also damn near impossible to quantify is the Bonus Power rewards. You could take the mining power you received from one of the boosts and try to base it off of the current mining power towards say RLT and see how much more you would get per block for the time period of the Boost. But that is assuming that the overall mining power of RLT doesn't change throughout your Boost which is unlikely. So for the sake of this article I am not going to give any value to the Bonus Power but it does have a huge value just not one I can put a fixed amount too.

So the total amount of value you could get from the Season Pass if you got all 20 levels is 851.3 RLT (not including the Bonus Powers)

The Rollercoin team has stated on their official blog that all the rewards for the season are worth 1,295.99 RLT in total. That could be exaggerated a little because the Exclusive miners are not for sale so the price is what they say it is. And we don't have a price on the Bonus Powers or the stupid trophies.

Now I am going to finish with completing level 15 so my total rewards in RLT will be 537.3 (not including the Bonus Power)

You may read that as I paid 150 RLT to get 537.3 RLT back in value and you would not be wrong. But let's put it into USD dollar values for a second.

I spent $150 on a ticket that gave me $537 value of various mining gear. That $537 mining gear is not USD that I can withdraw today. It is an investment into the ecosystem. I got to give the RollerCoin team credit for giving you a phenomenal return on investment back into their own game. Because I "invested" my $150 in crypto into RollerCoin I am not playing the long game. And since I have decent mining power I can mine for their own token the RLT which keeps me in their ecosystem and there by increasing their return on my time.

This is where I ended up after the Season. I have my fancy new miners on the far left rack. I am starting to amass quite a nice little pile of miners :)

Don't get me wrong I like Rollercoin and think it's a fun game. I will always enjoy games built around the idea of mining cryptocurrency. I am not mad about choosing to purchase the Season Pass.

The problem though is glaring me right in the face though. Now that I put this much money into Rollercoin and got this big boost of mining power if I don't keep up with it Season over Season then I am going to dramatically slow down in the ranking. Which also means I will be mining less and less. It is like real world mining. You need to keep adding to your hashrate or you will be overtaken.

However I have already told myself that I would NOT be buying the Season Pass 2. I am going to take a Season off and see what I can get from going "free to play" this season so to speak.

The other question I get is if I think someone should buy the Season Pass. And to me that all revolves around 1 question. Do you have the time each week to get the weekly quests done. If you do have the time and commitment then 100% yes it is worth it. Rollercoin is not a get rich quick scheme or game. This game is built so that you build up your mining power over the course of a few months and slowly keep adding to it and then at some point determined by the player start to change to mining for RLT to mining for a crypto you want to withdraw (ETH, BTC or DOGE).

What is also going to interesting is that the Rollercoin team is talking about adding maybe a 5th crypto to the game to mine for. That is going to be a game changer because naturally people are going to move over their mining power to that token and it will make it easier to mine for the existing tokens.

I am saving my Season 1 miners until the Marketplace is open and then going to see what I can get for them which is going to be exciting!
