Ultra Rare Axie Infinity Unit Sells for $12,500

Axie Infinity, an Ethereum-based collectible game with PvP battles, continues to see its rarest in-game units changing hands for hefty sums.

The most recent example came over the weekend when a ‘Quad Mystic’ Axie sold for 70 Ethereum (ETH), roughly $12,500, on OpenSea, a marketplace for digital collectibles.

This Axie is considered ultra-rare because it is one of only three that has four ‘Mystic’ parts. These parts were generated when Axie Infinity launched and will never be added to newly birthed Axies moving forward.

The sale of this Quad Mystic comes less than a month after a Triple Mystic Axie sold for 12 ETH, valuing the in-game unit at nearly $2,300 at that time.

The progress Axie Infinity has made in building its ecosystem has caught the attention of VCs, as evidenced by the company’s recent investment round where it raised $1.5 million from several investors including Hashed, Pangea Blockchain Fund, ConsenSys and 500 Startups.

Notably, Axie #991 is already back on the market on OPENSEA for 400 Ethereum.
