The UC Berkeley blockchain group plays a direct role in managing Uniswap

Blockchain at Berkeley, a student-run blockchain organization, has become the tenth largest representative of the Uniswap exchange, highlighting the diverse groups involved in the emerging decentralized financing platform.

The student group has collected 2.5 million votes, which are linked to three other organizations, according to Sybil, an Ethereum management tool. This gives the Berkeley blockchain a 2.336% voting weight. Dharma is considered the largest actor with 16659333 votes or 14,632%.

The Blockchain organization in Berkeley, founded in October 2016, describes itself as a "Blockchain Innovation Center" that provides consulting, design, and education services. Its partners include Ethereum, Universal Protocol and Hyperledger.

On December 23, a blockchain in Berkeley voted in favor of the Uniswap Grants version 0.1, which outlines a framework to fund development of the ecosystem. A total of 6,800,883 votes were cast in favor of the program, compared to 9,300 votes against. The proposal was put on hold at the time of writing this article.

Uniswap first management vote in October ended in failure after the representatives failed to meet the 40 million minimum required for approval. The second vote, cast on October 31, was defeated for a similar reason. Blockchain at Berkeley did not participate in either vote.

Uniswap has emerged as the largest decentralized stock exchange, although its management came under scrutiny. Industry watchers have generally complained about UNI whales, which they see as controlling the ecosystem. Earlier this month, Uniswap lifetime volumes exceeded $ 50 billion across 26,000 traded pairs, highlighting the growing benefit of decentralized financial exchanges.
