Hello friends of the internet.
In preparation for an upcoming post I'm working on, "the best crypto podcasts of all time," I've been going back and re-listening to a ton of great interviews with crypto legends from the past decade. In doing so, I stumbled upon a fantastic point that I felt deserved a dedicated post.
The lesson comes from a recent podcast with Casey Adams (shoutout to him by the way, he did an AWESOME job with this one), with Tyler Winklevoss.
If you don't know who Tyler Winklevoss is, here's a refresher:
- True inventor of Facebook, but got Zuck'd
- Struck gold a second time, by investing heavy into Bitcoin in the very early days
- Billionaire
- Former olympic athlete
- There's another guy that looks just like him
In this 1-on-1 interview, Casey asks him:
After striking gold with Facebook AND Bitcoin...what's the secret in consistently stumbling into these earth-shattering opportunities?
His answer:
Beginner's Mind.
I've always been a huge fan of this mindset, going as far as cementing it to the front page of my website:
Shoutout to Tim Ferriss, another dope podcaster that will be making an appearance in my upcoming "Best Crypto Podcasts" post. ;)
Tyler does a brilliant job summarizing why Beginner's Mind is so important:
People who are "experts" have assumptions, biases, and judgment...
Come at things from first principles, be open-minded, and recognize that the only thing you can count on in this world is change.
-Tyler Winklevoss
This is so simple, yet so crucial when venturing into uncharted waters like every PUBLISH0X reader is doing this very second in the crypto space.
Folks, internalizing this constant curiosity and quest for knowledge is SO SO important, and it's absolutely changed my life. If this whole crypto thing goes where we all know it is... then embracing Beginner's Mind will ensure that we all make the most of this opportunity.
Peace and love, friends. Hope you have a fantastic week!
-Ben
