Trezor owners are advised to temporarily opt out of wallet updates

Trezor hardware wallet owners are advised not to download the latest software to avoid problems accessing Wasabi Wallet. This was announced by the developer Jumar Makato.

In early June, Trezor's developer, SatoshiLabs, fixed a security vulnerability that led to a multiple increase in network commissions.

“We have released firmware updates that change the way SegWit transactions are processed.”

However, this update caused compatibility issues with third-party services, including the Wasabi wallet and BTCPay server.

CoinJoin's mixing technology used by Wasabi Wallet allows you to collect many transactions into one, thereby anonymizing them. Trezor used to confirm partially signed Bitcoin transactions from Wasabi. Updated TREZOR firmware does not consider a partially signed transaction to be valid.

It is also fraught with problems when transferring a large transaction to Trezor devices, which may not always support large data sizes.

Based on this, the Wasabi Wallet developers recommend not downloading version 2.3.1. for Trezor Model T and version 1.9.1. for Trezor One.

“We advise users not to update Wasabi Wallet until the problem is resolved, because of the potential possibility that attackers could spread a malicious copy of Wasabi Wallet and exploit the vulnerability for their own purposes,” added Jumar Makato.

Troubleshooting will be announced later on the official pages of Wasabi Wallet.

Recall that in March 2019, unknown attackers created a fake site to download the Wasabi wallet.
