Travel to Stepantsminda, first day, first impressions - my trip around Georgia

We go along the "military road" to the town of Stepantsminda. This is the only road in the mountains connecting the Russian and Georgian parts of the Caucasus. From a strategic point of view, it is very important, as a huge trade route runs through here. The road is quite pleasant but under constant construction. In winter it is sometimes impassable and its renovation takes almost the whole year.

Jedziemy "droga wojenna" do miejscowosci Stepancminda. To jedyna droga w gorach laczaca rosyjska i gruzinska czesc Kaukazu. Zima czasami bywa nieprzejezdna i jej remont trwa praktycznie caly rok.

The photos taken from the car show how important this trail is. There are trucks and trucks with various registration plates stretching for kilometers: Georgian, Russian, Georgian, Armenian, even Polish and many other countries.

After about 3 hours we arrive in Stepantsminda and look for our new place. There was no problem with locating it because I chose the facility close to the center of the town.

Of course, the standard in Georgia, at least towards Poles, is greeting. So, treat yourself to Georgian "chacha" and khachapuri pancake. As we stayed there for two nights, we were greeted twice ??. The conditions are a bit like tourist shelters, quite austere and rustic, but we had our own room, private bathroom, hot water, coffee and tea for free, and in the evenings, when the temperature dropped significantly, we even had the heating turned on

However, the most important thing for us was the view from this Guest House. The terrace was situated with a view of Mount Kazbek and the Orthodox Church "Cminda Sameba". It was a bull's-eye.

The mountain was kind to us because, despite the terrible weather, we had it in view every evening. The most beautiful views were after sunset, when it was dark in the valleys and the mountain, due to its height, was still beautifully lit.

In the next post, a trip to the Orthodox Church "Cminda Sameba", which was also beautifully visible from our observation position on the veranda. Finally, a short video and views from the veranda of our guesthouse.
