Town Star: Path to a self sufficient town

Town Star is the first game by Gala Games.  Their platform aims to decentralize gaming by allowing players to run nodes and rewarding players with GALA tokens.  You can read more about it here

The purpose of this guide is to make sure you don’t miss anything on your way to a sustainable town.  I had to destroy quite a few buildings and almost went bankrupt in my first playthrough because I did not know the prerequisites for certain buildings to start producing materials.  No other guide mentions every building you need and their optimal operating conditions.  This can lead to some frustration, which I would like to help you avoid with this guide.

If you have not done so already, you can join Gala Games with the following referral link and earn 100 GALA: https://gala.fan/J6WoIAsj-

GALA can be exchanged for other cryptocurrencies on the exchange of your choosing.

When you start Town Star, you will be presented with two options; to play on a competitive weekly server or to play on the monthly free server.  Don’t let the names confuse you.  Both servers are free, the only difference is that the weekly server is a competition that rewards players.  I recommend jumping into the competition right away as there is no penalty and since your first playthrough will mostly serve as a learning experience, why not compete at the same time?

Once on the world map, pick a spot that is close to a city and has access to a river and forest.  This will give you the best starting conditions.

Get a good sense of your land.  Try to plan around lakes, marshes, and trees so that you don’t have to spend money on demolishing features.

Build a Lumberjack House to start collecting wood.

Build some Wheat Fields around marshes and lakes.  These fields should be 2-3 blocks away from any other buildings.  They should also water automatically.  If you notice fields that say 2/3 water, destroy them and build them somewhere else.  This will help with worker efficiency.  Three Wheat Fields and two Farm Houses will be more than enough in the beginning.

Sell wheat to make money early on.  Make sure that you are only spending one gas per trip.  Gas prices are determined by your distance from the nearest city.  I would strongly discourage starting on an island due to the 3 gas price tag.

Once you have enough money, you can build your first Windmill and start producing Flour.  Windmills are affected by surrounding buildings, having one block on each side will allow them to function more efficiently.

Note: Some buildings like the Windmill will require you to specify their production.  Make sure to select Flour for your first Windmill.  The production can be changed by clicking on the building.

Next, you should build a Store House to store your flour.  As soon as you have 10, you will be able to sell it for $22,500.  This will greatly increase your income.

Now you are ready to prepare your gas production.  First, you will need an Oil Pump.  Oil can be stored in the same Fuel Storage as your gas.

Next, you will need water and energy.  Build a Water Facility near a lake and a Wind Turbine in the open.  The wind turbine will work best if you have two empty blocks on each side.  These blocks can contain rocks, marshes, and trees.  You should try to build 3 turbines.  You will also need workers to collect your water and electricity.  Build two Worker Houses to start collecting materials.

Your next building should be a Warehouse to store water and electricity.  It should be placed closer to your Wind Turbines than the Water Facility as water is produced much faster.

Finally, we can build a Refinery to produce Petroleum.  Petroleum can also be stored in the same Fuel Storage as gas.  At this point, it might make sense to build another Fuel Storage.  Once you have enough barrels of Petroleum, you can change the crafting to Gasoline!

You should now have a self sufficient town!  Your next step should be to upgrade your roads and increase or diversify your production.

Town Star also has its own Wiki with lots of useful information.  You can find it here
