Along the way, a record was broken in the total market value of all bitcoins ever mined.
Namely, there are currently "only" slightly more than 18.6 million bitcoins in the world, and since the offer is fundamentally limited to 21 million, their number cannot grow forever. That is why their value, which exceeded one billion US dollars for the first time this week, may grow.
In the company of the largest companies
A total market capitalization greater than one billion (1,000,000,000,000, one million million, 1,012) dollars is a value that only a few companies in the world have. Among them, Apple, Microsoft and Alphabet stand out from the technology sector.
By comparison, the world’s most valuable carmaker, Tesla, has a total market value of its shares at about $ 750 million, the total value of its silver in the world is about $ 1.5 trillion, and gold is about $ 11.3 trillion.
If we put it on the list of the most valuable companies in the world, bitcoin could easily be placed in the company of the top ten, and currently in 6th place.
