We met at the photography studio. He came to snap passports.
His face was familiar. We exchanged greetings and went down memory lane.
I knew him from his days as an organizer for political rallies. He had issues in his business.
On one of his visits to his hometown, he met a politicianan who promised to find him a small job to keep body and soul together. He was grateful.
Thus began his job of arranging people to attend political rallies across the country. He would be paid $15 per person but he will end up giving out $5 keeping the rest to himself.
I had a confrontation with him once and we became cool, not friends.
"Preacherman, how's life treating you?"
"Fair enough. What happened to you?"
He sat down and shook his head.
He was a young man who needed to find his footing in life. Time was passing and he didn't see a future being a full time organizer and part-time thug.
Then an offer came from one of the big boys. You know, the men who ran the show.
It was a lifetime opportunity that would transform his life...or so he thought.
He agreed to peddle drugs for the big boys across the sea. It was a daunting task.
"But, he who is down need not fear any fall. I was close to these politicians but I was eating crumps from the table."
On a second thought, he decided to turn down the offer.
He called his girlfriend to intimate her on latest development and see if she could comfort him. After all, he spends so much on her more than himself and his own family.
The lady feigned sickness...then became angry...then broke up with him over the phone. Everything was happening so fast. She later sent him a text message to solidify her stance on the matter.
He thought about the drug deal but still said no. He wanted to see a way of saving up small money to restart his business.
But it happened...
Exactly one week after that phone call which ended the relationship, he saw pre-wedding pictures and wedding invitation card of his now ex-girlfriend.
"At that point preacherman, I knew I had to make a statement."
Broken and shattered by love and life, he made up his mind to accept the drug deal.
But then His life's story changed after meeting this beautiful lady on his way to strike the deal he knew could have ended him in jail or gotten him killed. It was love at first sight, right there in the bus. After alighting at the lady's bus stop, they had a long talk at the eatery closed by. Oh God! "I was on my way to a meeting, now I have missed the deal". That was how he escaped becoming a drug dealer.
Guess what he found out later about her, She's a FARMer with unquantifiable experience in crypto world and has been reaping enormous yield. She introduced him and they both are currently good FARMers.
They are happily married with 2 kids and the whole family are bunch of FARMers always busy HARVESTing on their $FARM like professionals. Even the kids are asking for their tractors. Lol. Of course, their lives depend on it??.
