Splinterlands Battle Breakdown: Trample the Weak. Hurdle the Dead

This SPLINTERLANDS battle came to me from one of my guild-mates, Farmkids. He posted it in our chat with the insight, "This is why the Undead Rexx price jumped up to 0.09"

I didn't realize Undead Rexx had gone up in the market. Intriguing. Let's take a look at his battle.

Battle Replay

On January 21st, Splinterlands dropped two new rule sets: Stampede and Noxious Fumes. This battle involves the former.

The mana cap for this fight was only 14. Not a lot of room to work with. You figure you'll either end up playing one or two decent cards or a spray of low mana cards that you hope don't get cut down too fast. Farmkids was up against all the low mana fire cards this bot could throw at him. Cerberus, the self healing fire dog, was out front.

Had Farmkids taken his opponent's strategy and played a bunch of low mana ankle biters, it would have been tough to come out a winner. With Cerberus healing itself each round, you have to kill it in the first or second round or get nipped away by 10,000 papercuts. Luckily, our hero took a look at the rulesets he'd be dealing with and played his cards to perfection.

The stampede rule is set up to showcase cards with trample. If your card has the trample skill and it kills a monster, it can trigger it again if it keeps killing. Thus the stampede. This means that if played correctly, and you don't run into any shields, you could potentially just cut through your opponent as their monsters melt away under the fury of your trampling stampede.

Farmkids knows this. He has a card for this. And you probably have the same card if you've been playing more than just a little bit. The card of choice: Undead Rexx.

This is a humble card really. It's not even rare - it's a common! As of writing, there's over 95,000 in circulation. If yours doesn't have trample, all you have to do is get it to level 5, and maybe you can replicate this stampede masterstroke.

STAMPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDE!

Using the Dragon summoner Daria Dragonscale, our dino friend was able to get +1 on his attack. He got debuffed on his speed and didn't get to go first, but it didn't matter. With 12 health, Undead Rexx can take a couple hits. Trample activate! And here comes the stampede. Checkmate.

As Atilla the Hun said, "Trample the weak. Hurdle the dead." Master this ruleset and leave your opponents like:

It's worth noting that while the price of Undead Rexx did see that pop in price, the market for it has cooled down since then. As of writing, you can get them for about 1.5 cents on the market. This just means you can put together your level 5 Undead Rex for less than $1.
