Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenges - Another week, Another Challenge so here's my entry....

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if SPLINTERLANDS interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

https://splinterlands.com?ref=silver-edge.

The Grumpy Dwarf (A question - is it just me or do Dwarves always look Grumpy?).  An easy challenge to do as everyone has access to the Grumpy Dwarf since it's a starter neutral card.  No worrying about what splinter to use and if I have the card!

While not the most powerful card the Grumpy Dwarf can be a handy card to use as it has the reach ability (can hit from 2nd slot), has a shield and two health so can take a hit or two and most importantly he's a neutral card so can be used in any deck (unless the no melee or no neutral rules apply).

So to the challenge:

The Battle

This battle had a cap of 29 with the splinter restricted to Life, Water or Dragons and no magic characters allowed.  A good time to use my favourite life combination I am thinking.

Summoner was Mother Khala for the extra health and she works well with my favourite life combo, Shieldbearer, Divine Healer, Armorsmith.

Shieldbearer at the front for the strong tankiness and of course the Taunt ability.

Grumpy Dwarf next to take advantage of reach.

Divine Healer (for the heals) and Armorsmith (for the armor repair) next.

Silvershield Knight next for its +1 to melee attack ability (I probably should have put him in last slot and protect the Feral Spirit a bit should ShieldBearer go down).

Feral Spirit at the back (due to mana cap and to chip at the backline with Sneak).

Now this was most odd, the opponent must have been a bot, crazy, lazy, daft or all of the above.  The opposition picked Alric for the +1 magic on a no magic match.... weird!

Frozen Soldier for his tank up front with the shield ability

Demented Shark in second slot doing the same as the Silvershield Knight and giving his melee +1 attack.  He's blocked by Frozen Soldier though but is an ok backup tank.

Sabre Shark for a sneak attack next

Feasting Seaweed for the two attack and opportunistic ability next

Grumpy Dwarf and Horny Toad in the last two slots (A bizarre choice putting cards with reach in the backline and using two with reach at the end too)

And on to the battle:

Turn One:  Speedy Feral Spirit takes out the Horny toad instantly, Sabre Shark chips at Shieldbearer, Shieldbearer chips at Frozen Knight who chips at him right back.  Armorsmith repairs some armor, My Grumpy Dwarf chips at the soldier (thanks to Silvershield Knight he can still hit the Frozen Knight).  No healing from Divine Healer as no life damage taken by Shieldbearer so a wasted move there and a wasted move on his Grumpy Dwarf.

Turn Two:  Almost a carbon copy of turn One except Feral Cat doesn't kill his grumpy dwarf due to armor.  Shieldbearer ends the turn with eight life, Frozen Knight with two life.

Turn Three: Feral Spirit takes out the grumpy dwarf, Shield Bearer takes out the Frozen knight but does get hit by the knight first. Grumpy Dwarf chips at the Demented Shark who Chips at Shieldbearer. Thanks to Divine Healer and Armorsmith, Shieldbearer survives with six life.

Turn Four: Feasting Seaweed goes first and does two damage to Shieldbearer before dying to the Feral Spirit. Sabre Shark and Demented Shark combine to finish off Shieldbearer before the Divine Healer and Armorsmith can do their thing.  Grumpy Dwarf steps up to tank.

Turn Five: Feral Spirit finishes off Sabre Shark and Grumpy Dwarf finishes off the Demented Shark to finish the match.

A win for a smart team (mine of course) vs a crazy lineup (his - who uses Alric in a no magic match!)

And that's a wrap, Challenge Done, Battle Won!  An easy win this time!
