Unlike Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies, Ripple's start of 2021 was anything but exciting and its value stood at around US $ 0.22 per single currency. The reasons for the crisis are to be found first and foremost in the problems that Ripple is having with the SEC (the Secutities and Exchange Commission), a commission that has supervised the US stock markets since 1934.
The talk, between the fifth cryptocurrency in the world and the SEC, is expected to begin by the end of February and many industry experts believe that the parties will eventually reach an agreement.

While the SEC's first hearing of the lawsuit is getting closer, Ripple has hired a new executive, hailing from Amazon, to lead its engineering team.
Varadhan has 15 years of experience at Amazon, where he worked on software development for over a decade before becoming the VP of Delivery Experience. He also spent two years developing cloud and enterprise software for Microsoft. At Ripple, Varadhan intends to place an emphasis on building "architecturally sound systems aligned with customer and business needs".

The whole situation is telling us that Ripple could lose value for at least the entire month of January: it goes without saying that it would be better to sell now, and then buy at a second time!
