Painful Lessons, but Important!

Diverting away from investments for a second to focus on some life lessons I just learned Most of my life, I have been a high powered attorney and I always believed I could easily analyze any situation  - negotiating, drafting, you name it. Now, in my new chapter, I have been in my entrepreneur mode trying to get my new wealth consulting business off of the ground. I have always been a corporate stooge so this free thinking is news to me. Here are a few lessons I have already learned the hard way:

1. Even referrals from trusted sources are NOT always right FOR YOU. At the end of the day, you have to decide what's best for you and this may cost you through some trial and error.

2. You just cannot trust that everyone along your journey is there to help you. I always want to trust people. People will take advantage of that if you aren't careful.

3. Once you learn who to trust, keep those people close and listen to them even if they are 20 years younger than you. Wisdom comes from everywhere if you listen for it.

4. Have a plan ready to go before you jump in guns blazing. Enthusiasm is necessary, but planning is critical.

5. Don't ever be afraid to advocate for yourself especially as an entrepreneur. This is your life. It is up to you what you want to make of it. Make sure you are living out your vision and not someone else's vision.

6. Everything happens for a reason even if you don't understand it at the time. People come in and out of your life for different reasons. World works in mysterious ways...

7. Final one for today - memorize the Serenity Prayer. It is your friend. Learn what you can and cannot control and you will save yourself much mental anguish.

I have more, but attention spans are short. You guys have some more lessons for me?
