Noxious Fumes ruleset in Splinterlands - Another ruleset emphasizing the importance of abilities

Again no big news this week in the Splinterverse and a busy week for my personally! Shouldn't there have been already some big news about the land release? -Perhaps it passed me by, but I have not heard of any news.

As for this week's share-your-battle challenge, I will share with you a battle which confused me, first. But I do not want to spoil too much, so let's go straight for the ruleset and battle!

This week's ruleset is called "Noxious Fumes" and let us just this time play close attention to the fineprint of this ruleset. It reads: "All units are Poisoned at the start of the game.

Units with Immunity are not poisoned.

This is a one-time application - units that are cleansed, resurrected or rebirthed will not be re-applied with poison.

Enrage is triggered by Poison application."

Let us look at one of my battles here:

So here we are... all a bit poisoned... but wait are we really all?

At first glance I thought I was doing rather fine. My cheap monster got their health intially raised thanks to the other active ruleset.

But then... My opponent's Living Lava should have received half damage and thus at least have a reduced health. But it did not...

Somehow the poison icon from the beginning was gone, too.

And even at the end of Round 2 it did not look that bad for me!

But somehow my opponent's Living Lava was not poisoned!

So you can guess how the above battle ended with most of my unis having only 2 health left.

YES, I lost ;)

I do not know if I encountered a bug or if I just misunderstood the rules. Let us look back!

The fineprint read (among others) "This is a one-time application - units that are cleansed, resurrected or rebirthed will not be re-applied with poison."

And there lies the secret to my loss: My opponent's Scavo Chemist sneaked in and 'cured' my opponent's Living Lava which basically made me lose single-handedly. And that activation did go unnoticed on my side. -So I did not encounter a bug, but a very useful ability in this specific "Noxious Fumes" ruleset.

So my lesson learned for this week is: Always pay close attention to units' abilities! -Even if you consider them useless they can be decisive in the right ruleset.
