Yet another twist has formed in the Craig Wright case, with new information made public on June 12 seemingly indicating that Wright’s lawyers have admitted to owning an address that was involved in a Mt.Gox theft of 80,000 Bitcoin (BTC). Riccardo Spagni, one of the minds behind privacy coin Monero (XMR), tweeted a screenshot of the address in question.
Spagni, who also goes by the moniker Fluffy Pony, also tweeted a letter that Wright’s lawyers had sent to “Bitcoin Core” - presumably the development team. The letter mentions a “1Feex Address”, which does indeed hold just under 80,000 Bitcoin.

The letter also alleges that the two addresses mentioned, which are claimed to be a part of the now notorious “Tulip Trust”, were hacked around February 5 2020. Ayre and his associates intend to reclaim control over the addresses, according to the letter.
The new development is only of the many twists that the Wright case has taken. The case began experiencing complications in January 2020, when Wright’s bonded couriers with the private keys to Satoshi’s addresses failed to arrive.
Then, in May, a transaction of 50 BTC from one of the addresses Wright claims to own - meaning that he did indeed possess the keys. The Kleiman estate’s lawyers also argued a few days before the transaction that Wright already had access to 820,000 Bitcoin, further complicating matters.
This was followed by a much covered incident where Wright was called a fraud and liar in a message embedded in a transaction from one of his claimed addresses. Wright responded by saying that this was not possible as anonymous digital transactions could not be made.
The long standing case is expected to see a close soon, with the trial is set to begin on July 6.
